I was checking out the Honigs website today and I saw that Reebok has made a patent leather officiating shoe. Its cheaper than the shoes that the Officials Choice is selling, I've never owned a pair of Reeboks, how does the comfort level rate for them??

To be honest, I thought the Converse shoes were ugly, and the Reebok's are just as ugly.

I read this hoping to hear that someone else could finally sell IAABO products, but alas they still have the monopoly. MTD, you've never answered why IAABO continues to allow official's choice the monopoly despite poor service and not providing sizes that other suppiers do (tall). Obviously official's choice pays IAABO a cut of the action for the monopoly, and I understand IAABO wanting to make some money of the sales of IAABO products, but they should do a better job of monitioring official's choice and requiring them to serve the member's interests and not just the association's bank account. I am beginning to doubt whether the deal is all above the table.

I believe the reason that the officials choice has a monopoly on the IAABO products is because they make a substantial contribution to the IAABO charitable fund.

You can always buy a normal shirt and then have an IAABO patch sewn on. Your secretary can order them, and i think that the Canadian Honigs sells them.

I've gone down that road before. My secretary just says I should order patches myself from official's choice-and official's choice says they no longer sell patches. Fortunately after having this problem for quite a long time I was able to buy and stockpile some patches from PAULK1 from this board.

I have no doubt that official's choice donates to the IAABO charitable fund. I just wonder whether on not that charitable fund is the backpocket of someone high up in IAABO. IAABO doesn't seem to interested in monitoring official's "only" choice's service, nor respond to complaints from members about problems they've had.

I do not remember if I answered your question or not, but the answer is I do not know because I am not privy to the decisions made by the Executive Board of IAABO, but I am sure that IAABO gets a royalty on certain items sold. As far as service is concerned, I have never had a problem with The Officials Choice, but I have had problems with service from +POS on two occasions and other times have not had problems with +POS. My advice to any one is that if you do not have confidence in the service of a particular officials supply company do not order from them.

Officials Choice
 

Never had a problem with Officials Choice or Honigs. Both have always been timely and professional with my orders. I do know that sometimes it depends on when an order is placed and the demand that both companies are faced with at the time of the order.

When you need a shirt or jacket with a IAABO patch, and official's choice refuses to sell the patch alone anymore, using another company isn't an option. Fortunately I have enough extra patches now that I won't be forced to use them again for quite some time.


-And I agree, I don't like the shoes. Looks like a sweat box.

ref18, regarding your original question about comfort level of Reeboks: Reeboks have been my choice of shoes (both ref and otherwise) for years. I have found more of their styles to be superior in comfort for my feet than Nike and most other brands. I have found that in order to get a comparable comfort quality in a Nike I needed to step up in price--considerably--compared to most Reeboks. At least this has been my experiance.
