I have been contacted by the chairperson of the committee of the association I belong to who has been placed in charge of making recommendations for changes to the existing pre-game card that is universally used by all officials in our pre-game conferences. Thus, I am seeking your input as to how the card can be edited, shortened, improved, etc.

If you can, wait for the new rule changes.

New rules will not be available until summer. I understand there will be few changes. The existing pre-game card has never had the actual rule changes printed, only a reminder to discuss
I need any input before May 7th.

What's the card look like now?

ChuckElias Tue Apr 27, 2004 09:38am

I guess my question is, what's the reason for changing it? What are you going to update. If you give us some goal you're trying to accomplish, maybe somebody would have some concrete suggestions.

Otherwise, the card seems to be pretty good. I don't use it, I have my own pre-game notes, but a lot of guys I know use one and I don't think they have any complaints.

"New Rules."

I would not put "New Rules" on a pregame card unless you plan on making a brand new one every year. I might have a section on the card to discuss those new rules, but I would not put them in detail.

Peace

For example, do we need all the info on NCAA rules? I had suggested a name change to call it a "pre-post game card" so we could include key "post game" topics for post game discussion. Do you agree? If yes, what "post game" topics should be listed? Anyway, I'm sure you have some ideas and I'd like to hear them.

Rut,
No, rules aren't necessary, but the new mechanics come out the same time.
I employed a poor choice of words.
I shoulda said wait for the new mechanics.

That is true, but I was not thinking of the new mechanics. But that would change things, depending on what you put on the board. But usually they do not change that drastically from year to year. But last year the coverage area was a new thing. But even the Pre-Game Board I have is the same one I have had for about 4 years. Usually most of the information should be rather neutral and have things that might allow for discussion when changes come.

Peace

I found a pdf file on a website that may be a good starting place

I neither endorse or reject any of these. But here is the link.
