Rut - in your signature on your posts you list this quote:

"Do not confuse achievement for activity."--Unknown

I know where the quote comes from. My first wife said it to me one night.

Notice I said "first" wife.

BTW - how did you hear it?

I wish I knew for sure.

I have heard this for years from time to time. But the last person that I heard it from was on ESPN 1000 on a show called "Mack, Jurcho(sp?) and Harry." The host McNeil says this from time to time. But I know he did not originate the comment. So I just put unknown. If anyone can tell me, I would greatly appreciated. I am sure some author or famous individual used this in some book or speech at some time. I know I heard it in school or some witty person said it to me years ago. I just could not put my finger on it.

I used it mainly because I think it applies to officiating quite well.

Peace

I believe it's a mangled John Wooden quote:

"Don't mistake activity for achievement."

One of the partners at the CPA firm I worked for several years ago used to make a similar statement all the time. He would say "Don't confuse activity with accomplishment". Of course, I really don't think he was concerned so much with my accomplishments as he was concerned that I was billing all my activity, Money-grubbing Dexter that he was.

It is indeed a misquote of John Wooden, who said:
"Never mistake activity for achievement"
