Player A1 gets tripped, falls, and there is a small cut on his knee. I tell him to go to his bench to get a band-aid. Does player A1 have to leave the game or force team A to use a time-out to keep him in the game or can you allow a reasonable amount of time ( 30 seconds? ) to get the medical attention and resume play?

3-3 art. 6
A player who is bleeding, has an open wound, has excessive amount of blood on uniform, or has blood on person, shall be directed to leave the game, unless a time-out is requsted by, and granted to his team and the situation can be corrected by the end if the time out.

So they have to leave the game. But a time out and a quick bandaid can keep them in the game.

unfortunately, with a perspiration on the skin, the band-aid does not usually stay on for long.
