"How many halves in a game of basketball?"

If you took a course in "Coaching Principles and Strategies of Basketball" at the University of Georgia, and could answer the above, then you probably could get the same "A" that the ballplayers got who took the course.

I saw the test on Omaha.com, which is our local newspaper online. I about died when I read it. I'm thinking, what an idiotic test! I'm a college teacher myself, and wouldn't give a test like that. No wonder Harrick got fired.

Who's buried in Grant's tomb.

No one is buried in Grant's Tomb. It's a tomb, not a grave. President and Mrs. Grant are entombed in Grant's Tomb.

Hmmm...there are differing views on this one. Maybe it should be in the essay portion of the test & not the multiple choice section? ;)

The noun "tomb" has 1 sense in WordNet.

1. grave, tomb -- (a place for the burial of a corpse (especially beneath the ground and marked by a tombstone); "he put flowers on his mother's grave")

Obviously because you were not watching your area and saw the kid had his foot on the line...

Which one of these is a foul?
a) over the back
b) double dribble
c) reach in
d) both a and c
e) none of the above

ref18 Thu Mar 04, 2004 08:40pm

I think the test was fair, they were teaching the principles of coaching, how much info is there on that topic to teach and then test?? From the coaches i've seen, there mustn't be a lot. ;)

This would be one of the question's i'd expect:

If the official makes a call you don't agree with what do u do:

a) Tell him to f--- off.
b) Sit down and shut up.
c) Tell him he missed the reach over the back
d) Read a rule book

How many points for a 2-pt FG?

Apparently, at the University of South Dakota, the answer is 3.

South Dakota was trailing North Dakota by 2 points with time running out. The South Dakota guard shot a jump shot from CLEARLY in front of the arc, made the shot at the buzzer and was awarded 3 points by the scorekeeper. Neither of the 3 officials signaled a three-pointer. The officials ran off the court and the game was over. From the video, it was clear that the shooter could not have reached the 3 point line even if he had stepped backwards with a giant stride after he came down from his shot.

The commissioner of the league later released a statement that, after viewing the video, that the South Dakota player "MAY" have shot the ball from the 2 point area. When the commissioner of the league says "MAY" have, we know that really means he DID and the officials screwed up bigtime.

Unfortunately, South Dakota was not permitted to take their scorekeeper with them for road games as the official scorer.
