Yesterday I worked an 8th grade girls rec game with Juulie and, as I promised earlier, here is her eval:

Mechanics - A+
Rules knowledge - A+
Partner communication - A+
Pre-game - A+
Court presence - who cares
Sense of humor - A+ (she laughed at all my jokes)
Making players tuck their jerseys in - A+
Appearance - C (her fishnets were crooked in the seams)
Remembering to bring her partner a Diet Snapple - F
Not allowing the game to go into overtime - A++++++++++++++

Overall score - A+

Pregame? 8th grade girls rec game??

You lost me.

Jurassic Referee Sun Feb 29, 2004 02:02pm

Juulie? When do we get Mark's evaluation? Please leave out any info on his fishnets though. That's information overload.

Juulie,

What is Mark's eval?

Its great you have someone on this site that you officiate with. I've told most of the refs I work with about this site, but none have posted.

This site has been the most important tool to improve my officiating! On this site you get different philosophy, and thats key!

Diet Snapple, huh?

Maybe...maybe not. Remember that Juulie has to work with Mark. Is that a good thing? :)

The entire pregame consisted of each of us saying hi to the other. That's why she got an A+.

He also wanted to be sure I would actually be there for the whole game, since I kinda ditched him last week early. If he thought I was going to leave early again, he would have worked in the otehr gym, and sent one of those guys to tough it out after I left.

Mark is great to work with. Except for the jokes. But, hey, he's the assignor so I groan appropriately at the right time. But he's on the baord of his rec league, and he's been reffing and assigning refs for quite a few years, so everyone knows him, and they know not to give him guff. Plus he doesn't make us keep reminding the girls to tuck in their shirts.

All in all, it would be a plum job if it wasn't for the darn floor. I really hate that "composition" surface.

You should have worked on it before they put down a new surface two years ago. Before that, it was even worse!

BTW - I have six more rec games with Juulie over the next two weeks. YIPPIE!!!

man, i wish my evaluators could take a page from mark's book. :)

OK, OK. I've fixed it to the right priciple. I fixed anyting too. That was the Chineese part of the school. ;)
