Got a letter from the state Association Friday. They ruled that we should have called an intentional foul on the instigator, followed by Flagrant Technicals on him and his "victim", followed by a Flagrant Technical on the johnny-come-lately (as well as saying I had the right number), followed by a 2nd Flagrant T on the instigator for his comments to the opposing bench.
Administration. All T's offset (two on each team), so we shoot the 2 for the intentional foul and give the ball to the shooting team at the spot of the foul. Thus was the ruling from the Iowa State High School Athletic Association.

It's a lot easier to rule on this with video. (^:

I prefer some of the answers you got earlier on this board. The Iowa state people aren't correct that ALL Ts would offset. They clearly happen at different times.

I have to admit I thought the T's shouldn't have offset that way. Of course, I didn't think the instigator committed three total fouls, either. I had one flagrant personal (rather than an intentional personal followed by the flagrant T) and one flagrant T (after the original fouls were reported).

So, you're saying that the following scenario:
Intentional personal on V32, followed by 1 flagrant T on V32, H22, and H42, followed after the reporting by another flagrant T on V32, should have resulted in 2 shots for H22's sub (he was the fouled party on the intentional), 2 shots for V??, and then 2 shots and the ball for H?? (for V32's parting words of wisdom)?

Assuming the state was correct in ruling the T's all offset, shouldn't we have gone to the arrow rather than give H the ball at the spot of the intentional foul?

Yeah, if the ruling is that all Ts offset, then you do go to the arrow after shooting any personal foul free throws.

That's just one more reason that I think the state office's ruling is messed up.
I would have followed JR's path.

Snaqwells,
I didn't get in on your original post. Just wondering what part of Iowa you were working in or which schools (if you don't mind saying).
