Freshman level boys. A1 tries a bounce pass to A3. A2, who is setting a pick and facing A1, "reflexively" moves his leg and kicks the ball, which is recovered by A3.

Violation for kick ball? Rule book says it is a violation if the kick is "intentional." It says nothing about offense/defense.

No call? Is a "reflexive" kick (like a soccer player) intentional?

Your thoughts.

It's either accidental or intentional.

"Reflexive" doesn't work. :)

Many times its reflex when the def. kicks the ball. If he sees the ball and kicks his foot to the ball and makes contact, I would have say Kick ball. Violation.

You have to decide if it was intentional or not. That's why you are being paid the big bucks while being constantly praised by those in the bleachers.
