Shooting violation?

I wasn't paying attention to the TV, with the KU vs MU game. I heard the guy say its a shooting violation, Uhh. I looked at the TV and a player is at the FT line for two shots. Then the guy says, yes it is a shooting violation. My question is what is a shooting violation?

I'm guessing it was brilliant basketball announcers that don't know the difference between a foul and a violation. I was watching the game, but wasn't paying attention to that particular incident.

that's all right,never put more attention on the shooting violation or shooting foul

I'm surprised he didn't hear me telling him how stupid he was...I heard him saying that too...
