Another situation that we went over in pregame that has happened to a crew that I know. NCAA-W

A1 is shooting the last of two free throws. A6 is at the table to sub in for the shooter. Before the ball goes in the hole the table buzzes the horn for the sub to come in. Of course the shot misses. A2 grabs the rebound...Now what?

A's ball. The horn doesn't stop the play.

devdog69,
Usually the Women will play on, and there will be no problem, except for the hot ears of the clock operator.

I agree mick, but what if they don't except for one player? I am just thinking that this may not be so cut and dried, depending on the sitch.

devdog69,
We're dealing with college athletes, not Jr. High beginners.
It would be wrong to penalize the one player that knows the rules.
I have no whistle to stop the play, although my partner may blow it. ;)

We may always yell, "Inadvertant, A's ball!"
