I had my tenth game tonight. Junky game. Lots of learning opportunities. (Lane violations, player control fouls, boundary violations, etc.) So I wasn't happy with my game tonight.
The player control fouls were good calls and both on the same player. She's dribbling down court and puts out her elbow and shoves the defender. Could this be an intentional personal foul? Where is the line drawn? Rita [Edited by Rita C on Jan 20th, 2004 at 11:02 PM] |
If they are "protect the ball from the defender" arm thrusts, a Player Control foul is appropriate...

Was it? Probably not. As I read the play, and based on my observations of similar acts in other games, nothing meets the criteria in 4-fouls-intentional. It wasn't away from the ball, it wasn't designed purely to stop the clock, it wasn't excessive contact, it wasn't premeditated, ... It was just designed to stop the defense from making a play on the ball. |
Thank you Bob.
That helps. Rita |
