legal guarding position

I'm not so sure that if B1 falls down and A1 trips over B1 that B1 should have been called for a foul because I don't think that would be a legal guarding postition. Generally speaking if this happened in quick succession I would call it a foul(not a legal guarding position).

DJ,
A1 has the ball. B1 is guilty of a foul here, if she trips A1.

Interesting that I read this thread yesterday afternoon and had this happen in a GV game last night. A-1 is dribbling from her BC to the FC and B-1 is chasing her. B-1 "nipped" the heel of A-1 who went sprawling on the floor. Foul on B-1.

As someone else often says, LGP gives the defender additional rights. Not all contact by a defender w/o LGP is a foul.

In the play in question (B1 on the floor, A1 trips over B1), is a travel in FED and a foul on B1 in NCAA. The FED ruling is in some case and the NCAA ruling is in an interp issued this year.

I thought it was ironic.....

That the banner ad at the top of this particular discussion was on the availability of safety and training aids for............. "Slips, Trips and Falls"......

Disclaimer: The aforementioned banner ad may or may not have been the banner ad that you saw during your visit. Nor, should you have seen the aforementioned banner ad, may it have been as ironic in your opinion as it was in mine. If I have offended anyone by mentioning said banner ad, I apologize and promise to not do it again.

NWREF, so you're saying a "promise" is somehow binding? How parochial of you. ;)

awww...... great.......

Now I'm gonna need a disclaimer for my disclaimer.......

if the contact is the result of a screening action by the dribbler. This is massively mis-called these days. If A1 and B1 are running in the same path, the onus is on B1. If not, B1 must be given a step or two to avoid the contact.
