I am a Baseball and Basketball official. I was wondering what is the thing that most get out of this forum. I have been reading it off and on for about a month. Just wanted to see what most people find interesting about this place?

Please do not jump down my throat. I just wanted to know.

I value this forum as a way to get feedback on a situation that I have encountered while officiating. as you may have already noticed, there can be a wide array of perspectives which enhances my understanding of the rules and game management.

I also use it to learn from others' "situations" to hopefullly avoid icky situations.... So, in a way, this is preventative officiating. :D

Oooo yah! I also use it as a place to vent about coaches, players, and fans!!! ;)

Good jokes and one liners here and there.

Also you learn a lot of things too, like what to do if your partner chops the time incorrectly with 2.4 seconds left. :D

You get out of it what you make of it.
 

Just like anything you get out of it what you put into it, or what you make of it. That is mainly a place to discuss many officiating issues. Unfortunately many will try to shape the type of things we should discuss, because they share different philosophies or different political stances.

I think it is always important to understand no matter what anyone says, it might not apply to you or what you believe. But many here are from all over the world and have totally different experiences. But many still will never get that. So you have to take what works for you and throw away what does not.

If you are an official then you will have things every game that makes you wonder did I or my partner make the right call.

Many times the answers are not black and white per the rules, case books etc.,

I find the forum a great place to bounce the play off other officials to get their input.

I have found that nearly everytime the forum has enlightenened me or made me realize a portion of the rules that I may have overlooked etc.,

A great resource.

And then other times ...

Well just read a few of the threads. (g)

Thanks for you imput. I have been reading many of the posts and it seems that many have a wild sense of humor. Some of it is weird as well. This might be a place I will hang out form time to time.
