Okay I am half way embarassed to ask this. But I have seen mentioned on this board belts. And I have seen comments slanted towards not wearing them. Is this personal preference or is their actually a rule about officials not wearing belts?

No rule either way in Michigan.
Trend is beltless in college and High school.

It is only a personal preference. I know of no area that can make you wear anything. But if you want to assimilate into what most officials are doing, do not wear a belt. It might help you on preception and who gives you games. But just like anything, you can wear and do what you want. There are just consequences to that.

Peace

I think a good rule of thumb would be to follow the example of the officials who work at the reg./state/college level. I would bet less than 10% across that nation wear belts. They create the perception. If 90%+ of officials that work these levels wore belts, that would be the way to go!!!
