Question

Does anyone know how much of the money the board gets when you get paid per game? Is it a percentage or what?

Depends...

My assignor in Maryland (Eastern Shore) gets 7%. My father's in Northern Virginia get 10%. When I was in Ohio I didn't have an assignor or a board so I kept everything.

Our local boy's assoc keeps 6.5%. Our local girl's assoc keeps 8%. The boy's assoc charges a higher dues fees so it all kind of evens out.

It varies from place to place, board to board, rob. You should ask the person who signs the check.

It's done separately here. My understanding is that the assignor gets a couple of bucks per official from the school, but it doesn't come out of my check per se.

Lightbulb Our associations do not do that.

Absolutely nothing. We are independent contractors, we do not get games thru any organization. We get the games thru the conference (which has individual assignors) or we get paid directly from the schools directly. Only one of the conferences I work for, the assignor pays us, not the school (happen to be working that one tonight).

I am sure there is some kind of deal with the assignors and the schools and the assignor might get a percentage, but it varies by the conference. I know some get a flat rate of pay for the season, regardless of how many games they assign.

Peace

Our association actually has an assignor that schedules all of the games for our association. We pay I think $50 a year for dues which is used to pay for meeting space and the assignor gets some extra money (Like around $1500 for the year) to assign and reschedule all the games.

We get to keep every penny that we are paid by each school though. The dues probably work out to about 5% for the year depending on how many games you work.

We pay the booking supervisor a $65 booking fee.

Each school pays him $75 for their first team and $50 for each other team to book officials. So, a school with VB, VG, JVB, and JVG teams would pay him $225 for the season.

Also, some schools send him the fees and he writes one check to the official. That way the school doesn't have to worry about paying individuals. They write two or three checks per season and mail to him. In such a case, he gets a $100 check writing fee.

I don't know exactly what ours makes but it is based on local dues and a per year fee from the schools. It is not a function games assigned or fees paid to officials.

I know him -- worked St. Stephens / St. Agnes summer program with him. I got promoted before the summer and went to the summer program anyway because I missed all of last year (working in CA) and wanted to get back into the swing of things. Your dad is a good official. We have worked rec ball together, but no scholastic.

Smile Thanks...

DBL...
Thanks for the compliment. I'll see him tomorrow and pass the word along. Hopefully someday soon I will move from Ocean City back home to NOVA and join you in Cardinal.
