A1 is dribbling and then loses control of the ball. The ball is bouncing and A1 is using her body to shield B1 from gaining possession. A1 then uses her hip to bump the ball to A2.

Is this legal? Is it a kick? Please help.

It would not be a kicking violation, because that has to be an intentional kick of the ball, below the knee (or is it knee and below? I don't have my rulebook handy). You could call a foul on A1 for an illegal screen, but on a loose ball, make double sure that A1 is going out of his/her way to physically keep B1 away from the ball.

You know the answer as well as I do, Tony, she'd been told a rule incorrectly by someone who should have known better.
