if A1 goes to save the ball from going out of bounds, can he be the first one to touch the ball after establishing himself in play?

if A1 is dribbling down the sideline and he steps out of bounds to avoid a defensive player, can he be the first player to touch the ball after establishing himself in play?

if you know of a case book play, please note it.

Yes, he can.

It depends.

Was the dribble interrupted prior to the dribbler stepping OOB? If so, no violation.

Was he still dribbling when he stepped OOB, even if he didn't touch the ball when he touched OOB? If so, violation.

7-1-2, 7.1.1 SITUATION B, C, D.

Let's hope this is the worst mistake either of us makes this week. Would you believe I had never noticed this before. It's a wonder it isn't on the test.

No malice intended. Just an important difference when you're discussing such things.
