Ball is in frontcourt, tableside near the mid-court line. A 3-second violation is called. Where is the inbounds pass? Where the ball was or where the violation occurred?

Nearest the violation. FED 9-7 PENALTY, NCAA 7-5-1

Seems like we're talking for the most part about on the end line near one of the lane lines extended. That said...I think the usual mechanic here then is to choose which is closer A) the side where you are standing in lead or B) the other side. I think most of us amazingly choose A as being closer!

No contest, near the violation. Since 3 seconds is inside the lanes, the endline is the nearest spot.

Larry, if you re-read Larks' post, the end line is exactly where he said the ball should go. His point was that when you had a choice of designating the spot throw-in on the end line- i.e. on either side of a lane line extended-, you should pick the side that you are already on(as lead). That saves forcing your partner(s) into making a meaningless switch. Good point by Larks.

Or more likely, a meaningless rotation. . . ;)
