Okay. Still a lil wet behind the ears here, but need help understanding the duties of the R and U1 (and U2 as applicable). Plus, I think this would be a great review for the veterans out there! :)

In my limited knowledge, I understand that...

R - Court safety, Clocks, Jumpball, Intermission throw-in, scorebook, ruling disagreements, etc. Home team? (2man)

U1/U2 - Players' Uniforms/Apparel, Non-Jumpers (jumpball), Away?(U1) or Home(U1)&Away(U2)

What else should be mentioned. And if someone could point me to the right sections or the Officials' Manual or something, that would be helpful.

Reality.

Do not get caught up in the literal duties. Both or all officials are responsible for anything that happens in the game. The only thing is should be enforced, is the R should always do the Jumpball (in NF Rules) and administer the throw-in between quarters. Outside of that, if you notice something in your game, it behooves you to correct it or not let anything go on until it is corrected. Who really cares who is responsible for uniforms, if you see it, you correct it.

Peace

That works, Rut.
Plus you may want to add 'book stuff'.

Everything you need is in Rule 2. As far as officiating goes, when the ball goes up, everyone is pretty much the same. It's when a problem arises that the R takes over.

Once you get into a routine, you'll be fine.

Good answers guys, I would just add this..... who cares what duties are whom, learn to trust your partner and always be ready to help. You need your partner to make you look good, you can look bad by yourself.
