I had my 1st Varsity game yesterday. Boys, Division II. I had a blast. The game was well played for a 1st preseason game for both teams. A lot of fouls, as to be expected. Visitors won in overtime, coming back from 13 points down @ halftime. Crew worked well together and I think this set the tone for the rest of the year. Have a great season everyone.

I hope by "setting the tone" for the rest of the season, you don't mean the overtime. :p

Or the number of fouls.

We had a second-half foul fest last night. Team down started fouling with about 6 minutes left. First two times down the floor I let play go a little longer than usual, trying to let the ball handler work through some contact and not blowing the foul until necessary. Then it became obvious the defense was trying to foul and I started calling it earlier. I've learned that when a team wants to foul you should oblige or they'll start fouling harder in order to get to your threshold.

Good luck with your season.

Interesting. Yesterday was my first College Men's game. It went into overtime as well.

It was also the first time I had worked the three-person crew apart from two scrimmages earlier this year. A great experience. I have a lot to learn, but one of my partners said after the game that it did not look like my first game. I felt pretty good.

Big Varsity tournament starts tomorrow and I'm scheduled for two games, one Thursday and one Friday. I'm on a high right now.

Pardon the rambling on.

Why? Are the people of Vermont laconic?

ooo, great word! Don't you know the joke about the man and his wife celebrating their 40th anniversary? He comes downstairs that morning, looks at her fixing breakfast, and says, "Honey sometimes I love you so much, I can hardly keep from saying so!"
