Late in the 4th quarter last night A1 is pressing. B1 passes to B2 who turns takes 2 steps and ducks the shoulder into A2 knocking both of them down. I blow the whistle and give a blocking sign. It was one of those calls that, as I was doing it, I knew I just gave the wrong sign. So, I immediately changed the call to a charge. B's coach is up on his feet doing the howler monkey dance. I report the foul as a charge. The coach is making his case that "but that's not what you called first" I look at him and tell him "you're right coach, I made the wrong call and you know it"
Eyes, mind, process the events, blow the whistle, open hand, closed fist, so many things to think about. Sure do hate it when I screw the pooch like that.

Good reply. What did he say after that?

Better verbiage could have been- "Might have been the wrong signal first,Coach, but I got the call <b>right</b>".

Nothing that I heard. My partner had made the switch so I had to get moving.
