2 or 3 shots - Intentional Foul

Simple question really just want to be sure.

A1 is shooting a legal 3 point basket and is intentionaly fouled, ball goes in. Award A1 with 3 a three point basket, award two free throws and award the ball at the nearest spot out of bounds...i understand that, i think.

However if A1 is intentional fouled shooting a 3 ponter and the ball is missed would i award 2 or 3 free throw possession of the ball would of be awarded at the nearest spot out of bounds to team A.

Just trying to learn NFHS and NCAA rules.
