Two Person Boundary Responsibilities ???
I was just talking about this a few weeks ago:
https://forum.officiating.com/basket...ml#post1055572 And now, according to the latest issue of IAABO Sportorials magazine, IAABO has made another change to its two person boundary responsibilities. Beginning this season, the Lead official will once again be responsible for all frontcourt sideline out-of-bounds violations from the end line all the way to the division line. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...21c3db563a.jpg It should be noted that Crew responsibilities for administering throw-ins along the sideline have not changed. If the defensive team causes the ball to be out of bounds, after the Lead makes the ruling, the Trail is responsible for administering the ensuing throw-in. The Trail will move across the court to the opposite sideline to administer the throw-in https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...018f420db8.jpg |
Rationale ???
If I'm the lead, that area above the free throw line extended is not in my primary coverage area.
If I'm watching two post players fighting for position, how can I see a player step on the side line above the free throw line extended, or decide how a skip pass ended up out of bounds there. I might not even sound my whistle. Well, I guess that's why we can ask for, or offer help, on such plays. |
