Because they're appropriate for basketball and designed in such a way as to be almost impossible to fall off without partially removing the laces.

How about decorative aglets?

They are appropriate for basketball and if they are attached properly, they shouldn't fall off, like the original aglets that came with the laces.

I bought replacement aglets for my summer "boat shoes" and they stayed on all summer.

Good question.

Ahh, so "almost impossible to fall off" and they "shouldn't fall off" .....just like the OP item. It too is designed in such a way as to be almost impossible to fall off and it too, shouldn't fall off.

Indeed, when it becomes more of a larger problem, then it will probably be addressed by our "local listings".

Beads ...

Unless somebody in authority told me otherwise, I would probably allow these beads as they're pretty much impossible to fall off without removing the laces.

The StockX authenticity tag is held on by a very thin nylon thread. Somebody steps on it, even the player himself, and it easily breaks off, and rolls or slides across the floor.

Secondly, is it appropraite for basketball?

That appears to be subjective and debateable.

This reminds me....

We were playing some pick-up hoops a while back. Player had a string bracelet with these types of small beads. Their kid gave it to them. Anyway, during a transition play, suddenly all the beads went rolling all over the court. We stopped and took about 5 minutes to find and gather them from the floor.

Good thing we got the no-jewelry rule huh?

If some of the "trends" mentioned in this thread become more popular, this issue may make its way up the ladder to the NFHS.

May not even have to become more popular.

I only saw one pair of shoes with flashing lights on the basketball court and they were immediately after the NFHS banned such shoes in 1994-95.

Just got married, we were poor.

Our first color television set wasn't until the early 1980s.

Until then, I never knew that only the opening and closing scenes of The Wizard of Oz were in black and white.

Thought that the entire movie was in black and white.

I still remember, for the first time, seeing the door opening and the colors of Munchkinland popping.

What a surprise!

The Vikings were my original favorite team because I was living in North Dakota in kindergarten when I started watching football. Joe Kapp took them into the Super Bowl. All their games were on TV because we were too far away for hometown team blackout rules.

My dad's from the Philadelphia area and eventually strong armed me into being an Eagles fan. That was cemented when we moved to South Jersey when I was in high school.
