Thumbs down

High school casebook. Just noticed in the NFHS casebook page 6 play 1.18 concerning Artificial Noisemakers, that it states that Artificial Noisemakers are prohibited period. Last years casebook allowed them "during the permitted times". Has anyone addressed this yet?

Joel,
Both 2002-2003 and 2003-2004 Case and Rule books read the same to me.
Same ol', same ol'

Hum....Not mine. Situation C reads "fans from the visiting team are using artificial noisemakers during an opponent's attempted free-throw."(same play in 2002-03 casebook) The 2003-04 ruling for situation C reads: "The officials should notify game management to have a public address announcement made stating that the use of artificial noisemakers is prohibited at all times"

Last years casebook(2002-03) ruling: "The officials should notify game management to have a public address announcement made stating that the use of artificial noisemakers is prohibited other than during the permitted times".

I prefer the 2002-03 ruling.

Yeah, I kicked it; they are slightly different worded situations. I guess only real noisemakers are allowed this year and artificial ones are totally banned. Now, I rememeber that from out rules meeting in September.
Thanks.

Next, only noisemakers with the NF logo on them will be allowed.

A cowbell must be a real noisemaker.
Any kinda horn/Airhorn must be a real noisemaker.

Yes -- the NFHS addressed it. That's why they put the asterisk in front of the case play.

So if an artificial tree falls in the forest, and there's no one there to hear it does it make Artificial Noise? Real Noise?

No! NO!! No!!!
You can hear artificial noise. It's loud. It's disruptive. That's why there's a rule agin' it and it's makers.

Actually, it had an asterisk beside of it last year too.

This year's ruling is correct.

Music can be played at permitted times.

Artificial noisemakers are ALWYAS prohibited.
