Exclamation Location of throw in -- off ball foul

Player A1 is dribbling the ball in the frontcourt near the 28-foot line when defensive player B2 commits a pushing foul against A2 under the basket. It is team B's second team foul of the quarter. Is the resulting throw in located at the designated spot on the end line outside the lane where the foul happened, or at the designated 28-foot mark where the ball was at the time of interruption?

NFHS citation would be greatly appreciated!

Under the basket at the nearest 3 ft mark off the FTLE

out of bounds. ART. 3 . . . After a violation (9-4 through 9-13) by either team, a foul by either team before the bonus is in effect or any other stoppage in play, the throw-in lo- cation will be determined by the location of the violation/foul or the location of the ball when the stoppage occurs: a. If the throw-in is to be in the team's frontcourt, it shall be at either the near- est 28-foot mark along each sideline or the nearest spot 3-feet outside the lane line along the end line. (Diagram 5) b. If the throw-in is to be in the team's backcourt, the throw-in shall be at the designated spot nearest to where the foul, violation or other stoppage in play occurred.

POI is only relevant on double fouls, inadvertent whistles and timeouts.

I found this reference in my own research, but the red bit is my beef. (Mmmm... Red beef...). Seems clear for offensive violations, but it still seems ambiguous for off-ball fouls.

A stoppage is referring to a timeout or inadvertent whistles.

Billy:

I am too old to climb into the attic, so please help me out, but somewhere in the recesses of my mind I do believe that there is a CP Play Ruling that says the Designated Spot Throw-in Spot is the Spot nearest the Ball at the time of the Foul which means at the Designated Side Line Throw-in Spot.

Look at NFHS 7-5, specifically 7-5-4 "Designated out of bounds spot nearest the foul ... after a common foul prior to the bonus.

.
I remember a lot of "ancient times" stuff, but not this.

Note: I was observed by, or worked with, two members of our Observation Committee this past week.

Despite the severe arthritis in my right foot, and my very limited mobility, they recommend that I continue to blow my whistle another year in mostly middle school games.

So, I bought a new pair of referee shoes, and a new jersey.

Next year will be year number forty-five for me.
