Making A List, Checking It Twice ...
As I prepare for preseason scrimmages, I know that many coaches (and a few partners) will want to review new rules.
Here's my new rules list. 2024-25 Basketball Rule Changes Injured player to be removed from the game (time out exception) if the coach is beckoned by the official, whether the coach enters the playing area, or not, or if the coach enters the court without being beckoned. Allows twenty seconds for a player to address any minor blood on the body or uniform without leaving the game. Exception to basket interference by allowing a player to touch only the net while the ball is on or within the basket provided that the contact did not affect the ball. Penalty for failing to immediately pass the ball to the official when a whistle sounds is a warning for delay of game for the first violation and a team technical for any subsequent delay of game. Penalty for faking being fouled is a team warning for the first violation and a team technical for any subsequent offense. Player is out of bounds if contact by a player/person outside the boundary line provides an advantage, allowing the player to remain in bounds. If administrative, team, and bench technical fouls that occur during pregame offset, no free throws are awarded, and the head coach does not lose the privilege of the coaching box. Penalty for pregame or intermission dunking is team technical foul. and coach does not lose the coaching box to start the game. During a live ball dunk, players can grasp but not hang on rim. Wide screening stance is legal if contact is only on screener’s torso. If the defender contacts the “too wide” legs of the screener, that is still considered an illegal blocking foul. Throwin mistake can be rectified before first dead ball unless team control has ended. Clarification on correcting a throw in mistake to go back to original throwin spot and add time back on the clock. “Team control” added throw in mistake and correctable error because change of “possession” is not defined anywhere in the rulebook. A “weird” ball that enters the basket from behind the three point arc must be a try, a tap, or a thrown ball. A deflection that is obviously short and below the ring (not a “normal” blocked shot) could count as two points, but never three points. Exceptions have been added to first player to touch the ball after returning to the playing court for loss of team control (said player rebounds a missed try) and for an advantage obviously negated by time. When a player is disqualified, or directed to leave the game, both teams may substitute up until it is time to put the ball in play.Officials still won’t grant a request for timeout and will not allow substitutes to enter until the disqualified player has been replaced, however the new rule simply tells us that these “early” reporting substitutes don’t have to wait until the "usual" time interval before the last free throw, but may come in “early” with the required substitute. If the alternating possession procedure has not been established, play shall be resumed by a jump ball in the center restraining circle between the two players involved in causing the ball to be out of bounds.

Player/Person ...
Fixed this one. Mike Goodwin had me take a closer look at the actual rule language.
Player is out of bounds if contact by a player/person outside the boundary line provides an advantage, allowing the player to remain in bounds.
