Tough Questions ???

For those that may be interested, here are the most incorrectly answered questions locally on our IAABO Refresher Exam.

Correct answers, according to IAABO, are listed.

3) A-1’s throw-in is caught by A-2 while straddling the division line. A-2 fumbles the ball into the frontcourt and recovers the ball while still straddling the division line. The official rules this is a backcourt violation. Yes.

8) B-2, who is guarding thrower A-1 on an alternating-possession throw-in, breaks the plane of the boundary line. The official sounds the whistle and issues a warning to Team B. The official awards the ball to Team A and instructs the scorer not to turn the possession arrow when the throw-in is completed because this is no longer an alternating-possession throw-in. No.

17) A-1 is fouled and injured on an unsuccessful try for goal. A-6 enters to replace A-1. Prior to A-6 entering the semicircle to attempt the free throws, A-7 reports to replace A-6. The official beckons A-7 into the game. No.

47) During an alternating-possession throw-in, thrower A-1 holds the ball through the plane of the boundary line and B-1 grabs it, resulting in a held ball. The official awards the ball to Team A and rules it is still an alternating-possession throw-in. Yes.

49) During an interrupted dribble by A-1, A-1 recovers the ball with both hands and begins a new dribble. The official rules this is a legal play. No.

57) As time expires in the second quarter, A-1 is fouled and entitled to two bonus free throws. As the official reports the foul, Team B’s head coach is charged with a technical foul. Both the bonus free throws and technical foul free throws are administered as part of the second quarter. Yes.

70) With four seconds remaining in regulation time, Team B scores a goal, making the score 62-61 in favor of Team A. B-1 interferes with the ball before it is at Team A’s disposal. The official ignores the interference by B-1, and allows time to expire. Yes.
