Adjudication of FT's after multiple fouls
See the video ( https://www.youtube.com/embed/ekA5_f...025&autoplay=1 ) and determine if the officials got the call correct.
Skip to ( https://www.youtube.com/embed/ekA5_f...285&autoplay=1 ) to see the free throw sequence. Question is regarding the FT's (2 for white, 4 for blue) * Obviously the 2 FT's for white were because of the original (flagrant) intentional foul * The first 2 FT's for blue would be because of the (flagrant) retaliatory "shove" * The second 2 FT's for blue were, I'm assuming, because of the white player coming off of the bench? Assuming I have all of that correct, why wouldn't two of each teams' FT's cancel and we'd be left shooting only 2 FT's on blue's end? Is it because the original foul was because the ball was live and subsequent action all happened after the ball had become dead? |
Didn't (can't) watch the video, but as described the officials got it correct.
In FED, fouls offset only if they are at the same time and if they are both personal or both technical |
Based on your description, there was a personal foul on one team then two technical fouls on the opponent.
Have you ever seen free throws cancelled for a personal foul on one team because the opponent got a technical foul afterward? Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk |
Unicorn ...
Misread the title and thought that this thread would be about a multiple foul, the "unicorn" of all fouls.

Appears to be adjudicated correctly. Looks like you got the scenarios correct. Offsetting comes into play if we had multiple players getting involved in fighting from both teams.
The coach for blue looked awfully aggressive as he was crossing the division line and headed for the white bench and then the officials, I'd probably have to consider whether he was looking for trouble as well, or whether he was truly looking to keep the peace. |
