Magic Bus (The Who, 1968) ...
First game for me today with the new rules.
I was surprised that I didn't have any problems with the new "four magic spots" rule, other than the twenty eight foot line not being marked. It was tough for me to get a "feel" for the fifth team foul approaching, it seemed to happen so fast, luckily we had a scoreboard showing team fouls, a rarity in a middle school games. A big problem for me, that I have to stop doing as soon as possible, is that when I realized that it was the bonus, I reported "Double bonus, two shots", instead of just "Bonus, two shots". I was mixing up the old and the new. |
I'm expecting our officials to be able to track 5 team fouls every quarter, display or not.

And, since a team is lining up for FTs on a non-shooting (sic) foul, it's obviously the bonus. Just say "two" (or, if you're especially verbose, "two shots" ). |
Five Is Less Than Seven ...

Seven has become built in into my DNA over forty-plus years. Especially in the "five to none" first quarter. Seems we blinked and it was suddenly the bonus for one team. Certainly the fastest bonus in my career. |
Colloquial ...

I was referring to reporting to the table. "Double bonus" had become colloquial in these parts. Nevermore. |
