Over The Rainbow (Judy Garland, 1939) ...
4.15.4 SITUATION D: While dribbling: (a) A1 bats the ball over the head of an opponent, runs around the opponent, bats the ball to the floor and continues to dribble; RULING: Violation in (a), because the ball was touched twice by A1’s hand(s) during a dribble, before it touched the floor.
I actually had a legal version of this yesterday. Big difference between my play and the casebook play was that the dribbler in my play allowed to ball to bounce off the floor after he batted the ball over the head of his opponent. I actually thought to myself, "There's a version of this in the casebook and it's legal". Forty-plus years, first time I've actually seen this play. Is this the basketball version of being "nutmegged" in soccer?
