Correctable errors

In the simplest terminology, how would you explain the time frame in which to correct a correctable error?

Ex: "The error must be corrected before the 2nd dead ball becomes live".

Or

"The error must be corrected before the 2nd live ball"

Thanks!

So, the best way to explain it would be, "The error must be corrected before the 2nd live ball"?

Ex: A1 shoots and makes a 3, no signal is given. B1 inbounds the ball to B2 who drives the lane and is fouled by A2. The error must be recognized before the ball is given to B2 for the free throw?

Thanks in advance!

No. There are examples where that statement is not true.

This particular error is correctable at ANY time.

MechanicGuy: No, it's (no signal, wrong signal) a correctable error with the correctable error time limit.

You're thinking of a bookkeeping error where the three point touchdown signal is given, but not recorded by the table. This bookkeeping error is correctable until the officials jurisdiction is over.
