Update on Mentor

The mentor in this story made history this year. She was the first female official to officiate a state semi final game at US Bank Stadium. She also made history a few years ago as the first female to officiate at the Minnesota Boys Basketball Tournament. Minnesota also had a 2nd female official get a state playoff assignment this year.(The other female official also officiates football in the MVFC.)

Well, my association had an all-female crew officiate a boys state final last season...and the female line judge you saw working the Vikings debacle 2 days ago is also a member of our association. So there

Congrats to all.

Was that the game where the rarely used NFL "mercy rule" kicked in to end the game early?

I kiddingly said she should take up umpiring baseball as well. She’d probably make the state tournament there too.(I don’t know if she has ever done the volleyball tournament). She has officiated in four Minnesota state tournaments already(Softball, football, boys basketball and girls basketball.)
