Coach Not Beckoned And Doesn't Come Onto The Court ...
Middle school game yesterday. Blue player falls and hits the deck hard, and slowly stands up right in front of Blue bench, right in front of Blue coach, as the ball goes out of bounds.
Before my partner administers the throwin, I give him the stop sign to hold up while I checked out the player. As I question the player, her coach, from her coaching box outside the court, joins, and takes over the conversation. Conversation lasts about forty-five-plus seconds. Coach and player decide to allow player to continue playing. Player never left the court. Coach was neither beckoned, nor did she ever enter the court. No timeout was requested, or was a timeout granted. Coach thanks me for stopping the game. I gave my partner the go signal and we continue play.
3-3-6: A player who has been injured to the extent that the coach or any other bench personnel is beckoned and comes onto the court must be – directed to leave the game, unless a time-out is requested by, and granted to, his/her team and the situation can be corrected by the end of the timeout.
