Video Request: Block/Charge Double Whistle Mechanics
Utah @ Oregon St, 12/31/21, PAC-12 Network, 7:38 1st Half.
No brainer call (IMHO), but came from C’s side in transition, contact barely in the paint. Double whistle C/L, and C posted for an eternity before L finally made the call. Good mechanics, but I think L was waiting for C to make the call given where the play occurred, so there was an awkward pause. Is this one of those situations where there are no primary defenders in transition, hence why L has situational primary since the contact is on a secondary defender in the lane? My rule of thumb is Lead takes all secondary defenders in the bottom 2/3's of the paint. But if the defender was actively defending before reaching the paint, I see the Center taking it.
