What? You mean that when I complain that the twenty cents off coupon for a can of peas is only two days expired and that I should still be able to redeem it, you're really not listening to me, even though you're smiling at me? The smile is real? Right?

For almost twenty years I worked a part time summer job as a bartender/starter/toilet cleaner/jack of all trades at a small family owned golf course. My boss, a rich little Italian lady owner, when complained to by a customer, would, at first, try to politely deal with the customer, but if pushed would end the conversation by saying, "If you don't like the rules, buy yourself a golf course like I did".

If a coach is respectful I'll listen, but chances are he/she is wasting their breath and just needs to vent.

Ever hear of Mancini Peppers? She married into the Mancini family. Her brothers were all professionals, doctor, school principal, funeral director, silent partners in the golf course business. Big bucks all around. But "down-to-earth" nice. If I screwed up, she called me a "Crazy Irish bastard", but was kind, generous, and treated me like family.
