I have no problem with looking at bikinis, tops or bottoms, but there is absolutely no reason for this thread.

You were warned and didn't have to click.

My reason was simply to show that as some, if not many, of us question our fashion issues in basketball, it can be much worse.

This thread has no business here, PERIOD, regardless of your silly warning.

Your purpose is what it always is, the need for attention and the need to alleviate your own boredom.

Everyone is entitled to their valued opinion.

Including the moderators (who can act to delete, or possibly even punish).

If there was a Beach Handball Forum, I would have posted there.

I can't be sure, but some very small number of Forum members and/or readers may have found this article to be mildly interesting, especially now that we're in the middle of basketball off-season, and the Forum is kind of "dead". If it weren't for my IAABO Make The Call Video threads, the Forum would probably be "deader than a door nail".

Nothing wrong with that. Forced conversation is irritating and drives people out the room.

Agree.

But silence can also be awkward.

Reminds me of my college Astronomy professor, Mr. Ehlers. He was a former engineer who worked in NASA's late 50's/early 60's Mercury program. He looked the part. White short sleeve dress shirt, thin necktie with a tie clip, and smoked a pipe in class (one could do that back then).

Whenever he would mention s some minor trivial fact ("One million Earths could fit inside the Sun"), he would always followup with, "Good information to know at a cocktail party".

There is an "off topic" forum.

Anybody still alive remember ChuckElias' Warning!! Annual Off Topic Baseball Thread!! Open At Your Own Risk!!?

But Chuck is no longer here on a regular basis. As well as the others that participated in the conversation. At least that was community participation. Has anyone in this thread engaged in the conversation that you claim to want to have with everyone? All they are talking about is how what you said was not only off-topic, but no one is talking about uniforms in basketball or related issues.

Peace

True. Including me.

I wasn't trying to use ChuckElias' annual thread to defend my choice to post a general sports "officiating" fashion thread. One has to do specifically with the single off topic sport (off topic twice, not basketball, not officiating)) of baseball, the other has to do with one specific aspect (fashion) of sports "officiating" in general. Not comparable. It had dawned on me that me posting an off topic thread with an advance warning was similar to, but not exactly the same, as what ChuckElias did many years ago.

For those that may have mild interest or slight curiosity in conflicts between the fashion regulations and guidelines related to sports competition, and athletes (mainly women) being made to feel self-conscious about what they are wearing when competing, here's another recent example of such a conflict. Obviously, don't click on it if you have absolutely no interest in this general sports "officiating" topic, and how the "sausage making" of fashion rules eventually "trickles down" to impact officials and athletes.

Paralympian Olivia Breen Says Official Called Her Shorts "Too Short And Inappropriate"

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/olivia-...inappropriate/

Raymond is correct that this issue may have "no business here" in that basketball officials are not usually expected to go around with a tape measure measuring jerseys, shorts, logos, etc. We get off easy by just having to say, "You can't play with that color undershirt", or, "You can't play with that color headband". We get to leave the "sausage making" of basketball fashion rules up to the NFHS, the uniform and equipment manufacturers, and in some cases, the state associations.
