IAABO Make The Call Video
https://storage.googleapis.com/refqu...xi6HFPl6do.mp4 Is this illegal or incidental contact? This is a men's collegiate play. Observe this play and make a judgment as to whether this is correctly ruled illegal contact. Are the officials in good position to make a proper ruling? Two choices: This is correctly ruled a foul. This is incidental contact. My comment: This is incidental contact. Offensive player’s own momentum caused him to stumble. |
I do not see anything that stands out as a foul here. It is also going away from the C in this case, so he has to be sure to put air in the whistle. Now it could be a foul if the arm was hit by the defender, but not seeing that clearly. So I tend to go with nothing on plays like this for the most part. But that does not mean the official is wrong, the video just is not a great determiner of what happened from that angle.

We don't have the same angle as the center official.
It is possible the defender made illegal contact when he turned the right side of his body into the shooter. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk |

I'm with Raymond...there is simply no way to tell if there was a foul or not on this play with the camera angle given. To declare otherwise would be no better than the Trail making the decision on a play all the way across the court with a bad angle. |
I agree with the angles discussion, but from the camera angle I have nothing.
