Bc violation...tell me I'm missing something
|
|

The BC violation is the second pass that goes from the player who had stepped into backcourt and threw a pass that was deflected by a teammate who is standing in the frontcourt. Ball lands in backcourt and is retrieved by another teammate.

Everyone that disagrees on the Facebook group makes the argument that the 3pts aren't across. First pass you could miss you get one live. The second pass is a almosrt straight from work the casebook.

I am really tired of referees who don’t know and don’t care to actually read the “3 points” rule spouting that off as a defense of their opinion on backcourt plays.

Let's look at the positioning of the crew on this play. The center has the best look and the only look on this play. With all the players in the trail's primary, this would be a great time for the center to have a strong call. A lot of crews talk about having a strong "C" to make the game better and this is one of those situations where the Center should have a call on the backcourt violations(s). If it's not the first because they couldn't deem where the player's feet are when the ball is touched/possed then definitely on the second instance where the players has both feet in the frontcourt then tips the ball, the ball has frontcourt status, and then goes to backcourt status when it possed/touched by another offensive player. This would be a great crew save to have.

Both Feet And The Ball ...
4-4-6: During a dribble from backcourt to frontcourt, the ball is in the frontcourt when the ball and both feet of the dribbler touch the court entirely in the frontcourt.

On the first one, the C is straddling the division line. He's exactly where I'd want to be in the same situation. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro |
