Insurance - missed games

Has anyone filed any type of insurance claims for missed games due to COVID19? Issues? Denials (act of God)? Thoughts?

I have not filed for missed games, but my understanding is this is considered by insurance companies as 1) a known event, dating back several months and 2) an Act of God reason for cancelling the event.

I know I wish there was a way to collect for the lost games as I am now about over $1500 for lost assignments so far due to cancellations of my assignments. Might not seem like much, but when your officiating is the primary income source, it really takes a bite out of your wallet.

Big time college officials almost always have some sort of policy to recoup lost game fees under certain circumstances (I would too if I was making that kind of money), but not going to pretend to be an expert in this particular situation.

Based on my experiences with NASO concerning my injury and surgery, you have to have a special rider or addendum to collect for missed games.

Independent contractors still file tax returns (or at least, they're supposed to), which is what the stimulus payments are based on.

Yes -- but the bill also includes enhanced UI benefits, which is what IndianaRef asked about. My understanding is that since an IC is NOT eligible for UI payments normally, and IC would not be eligible for the enhanced benefits.

Just speaking philosophically why would an IC be eligible for UI?
(ps - I'm not saying you believe one would / should be.)
It is just that - Insurance.
Insurance for which an IC does not pay premiums.

That said, I do know there that in some states law makers are trying to figure a way to pay to IC's and employees who's employer is exempt from UI payments (more precisely Unemployment Insurance Premiums.)
