Oregon Basketball Tourneys - No Spectators

The Oregon School Activities Association has just announced that the only people to be allowed in the remaining basketball tournaments will be the players, staff, and officials. No spectators, not even family.

From the release:
Quote:
Beginning Thursday morning, March 12, per guidance from the OHA and the Governor, only participating students and coaches, essential event staff personnel and media with OSAA‐issued credentials will be allowed to attend OSAA State Championship events.
The full release:http://www.osaa.org/docs/osaainfo/OS...e_March_11.pdf

It will be very bizarre working these games with empty stands.

Colorado has done the same, at this point players are allowed four tickets for family or friends, but we will see if that changes.

This is appropriate to cancel the games, very responsible administrators.

Wyoming State Canceled

Joining the list.

Wyoming canceled its 3A/4A (large Schools B&G) State Tournament after the 1st games this morning. Yes, played the 9am games before the health department decided to shut it down.

1A/2A went last weekend all the way thru.

As of mid-morning, Oregon moved from limiting attendance to participants only to a full cancellation of all remaining games.

I feel just awful for the teams and my fellow officials here right now. I know several guys who were working their first final-week games and 2 scheduled to work their first state championships. I worked one last year, so I was rotated out of the last week this season. I can't imagine what they're feeling like
