Biting in basketball

https://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...pends-one-game

Seriously? Just a single game suspension for biting an opponent!

From “there was no bite, that was a jump ball” to “he bit him and I’m suspending him for one game” — Kelvin Sampson still lacks credibility and class.

Reminder this is the same Kelvin Sampson who cheated while coaching at Oklahoma.

I said it on Reddit, and I'll say it again here.

Jarreau should be facing criminal charges for this.

At least give the guy a 3-game ban, but this what happens when the coach is a dirt bag violator himself.

Not an Anti-Dentite

Would this have happened had player complied with 3-5-8 MOUTHGUARD? With . . . "A tooth and mouth protector (intraoral)... including an occlusal portion and a labial portion...covering the posterior teeth with adequate thickness...protecting the anterior (leading) dental arch", the bitee would probably have been protected from the biter.
:)

Ohhh the incongruity . . .

This is the result of trying individualise punishments based on actions and context.

Where a player wildly throwing kicks and punches, and lifting a chair is out indefinitely and may never play collegiate basketball again. While a player who bites another gets 1 game and everyone debates the merits and length of each.

I really think schools and the NCAA should just create a blanket policy for violence/behaviour unbecoming and just have a series of escalating consequences. First time offender 5 games, 2nd time Season, 3rd time NCAA career.

Don't throw punches, don't threaten people with chairs, don't bite people, don't abuse other people etc.

Now we would still debate lines and what falls under and doesn't but sports convo wouldn't be about how many games, how aggregious, etc. Players, coaches and schools would know. Anything under X = Y.

Funny.

I didn't know that Mike Tyson had any college eligibility remaining?
