Sponsor Logos ...

WNBA makes logos on uniforms more prominent

The WNBA's uniforms in 2019 will look different in one key way: Team logos will replace the players' numbers on the front-center of the jerseys.

I hope that this doesn't eventually doesn't trickle down to the high school level.

I hate it when a player's long hair makes it difficult to see the number on the rear of her jersey, and I have to wait and look at the front of her jersey for a identifying number (or ask her to turn around).

Imagine a WNBA official having to do something like this all the time.

Not sure why it would not trickle down to HS level. Schools are always desperate for $.

FIBA has allowed sponsorship logos on uniform shirts in FIBA sanctioned professional leagues for a number of years now. And I haven't paid too much attention to the WNBA this past season but I did think that it was allowed starting with its past season. I do not like the idea of only have a number on the back. It makes it more difficult to quickly identify the Player.

Gotta love the summer leagues/camps where I'm telling players to give me a spin so I can see their numbers.

Just wait till they start throwing ads on refs. They do it in soccer.

"Bob's Bar And Grill", "Ted's Cigar And Vaping Shop, "Tony's Liquor Outlet", or "Betty's Happy Ending Massage Parlor", on the jerseys. In some states, "Waldo's Marijuana Emporium".

Half price for high school students with a student I.D.

I think there is some other funding but I do not see this being allowed on jerseys anytime soon.

Peace

Sponsor logos on jerseys, maybe someday, if allowed by state high school athletic associations (but probably not the NFHS).

No numbers on the front of the jersey, hopefully not in my lifetime.

"Coach. I had to call an intentional foul, he pushed him with two hands right on the "Charlie's Pool Hall" logo."

Nothing here for me to object to in principle. Just so those responsible for policing the size and other restrictions are stakeholders of the game other than the officials.
Time for us to get totally out of the Fashion Police business anyway. The game we officiate would be the same regardless what they wear. Right?

*CDFU @ those examples, but on a serious note....

*How about "House of BBQ" or "Mama's Fried Chicken" sponsorships ---if an official were to have those logos and the business owner's kid was a player in said contest----would we have to recuse ourself from reffing that game due to "conflict of interest"?
