Belmont v MD vid request

1:20 left in the 1st half
Verticality or A to B foul on the MD defender?

Nevadaref Thu Mar 21, 2019 03:18pm

35 seconds left 1st half.
Layup attempt by Belmont with C tableside.
Does he miss a hit on the forearm/wrist?
Excellent replay of this. Please include.

Nevadaref Thu Mar 21, 2019 03:54pm

Second half. 15:04
Foul or clean block?

Nevadaref Thu Mar 21, 2019 04:21pm

4:07 left second half
PC, travel, NC?

Nevadaref Thu Mar 21, 2019 04:25pm

3:45 left
Excellent example of a player returning from out of bounds and getting one foot in and the other in the air before touching the ball.

Nevadaref Thu Mar 21, 2019 04:29pm

1:30 left.
Good save on the end line or out of bounds?

JRutledge Thu Mar 21, 2019 04:36pm

You are on top of this game. Good job man!!!

Peace

Replay appeared to show the Belmont Player never touched out of bounds. Looks like the L missed this one. :o

That said, he saved the ball right to the Md player, so the right team ended up with the ball regardless......at least, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

This is the first test of videos. We will see if the tournament people have an issue with the videos. I will take my time with this round of videos for that reason.

Block. No foul. No travel but PC. Legal (in bounds). A true hair splitter...I can't say with any certainty. Foul...no ball, all wrist.

I mostly agree with Camron. I will say that these are difficult games to call. The speed and athleticism is way above what I’m seeing at the HS and JC levels. So please don’t take my video requests as overly critical of the guys on the court. I doubt that I could do better. There will be a handful of calls missed in each tournament game.

Too many videos.

The first is a foul -- defense jumped in front the the airbonre offensive player.

Didn't watch the rest.

I have this as a foul against the an airborne shooter.

Well, it adds to the library of the many things can be used for teaching. Multiple people use the videos outside of this page for their associations. So I welcome the requests of the situations. Fresher situations for my purposes are good.

I also have an A to B foul by White 10 before the rebounding foul by Blue.

I meant "too many for me to watch." I agree that some of them are good for training.

The point is there are too many videos thrown into one discussion. It is almost impossible to keep any amount of discussion straight about which video is being discussed. I believe each video should be in a thread of its own if you really want discussion for learning purposes.

I would prefer for me to post the videos to keep the requests in one thread per game. It makes it easier to find videos and easier to post them. If they were in their own thread, it would be harder for me to follow where which videos I posted.

I get it, this is not perfect. But if Nevada or anyone was watching one game and they had several plays posted all over the place, I might miss those plays or not realize there was a request.

Peace

That's a foul all day. In my pregames I discuss protecting airborne players. Whoever that announcer was is an idiot.

Another pregame talking point for me. Leads, leave plays alone on the other side of the basket. The Lead should have been officiating the big man for his legality, not the player on the opposite side of the offensive player.

So how about just posting plays where we can learn and not include plays where there's simply an official who missed a call?

What good comes of that, in general, unless there's some kind of teaching point?

That said, there are some good ones in here, so I'm not saying they are all in that category.

I agree with Rut -- one thread per game works best.

Definitely not a travel. You can argue a player control foul, but I'm good with the no call.

I think maybe the white tights blurred with the white graphic outside the boundary line.

I agree with Rut -- one thread per game works best.

An alternative is that when the discussion for a video gets interesting, branch it off into it's own thread. The nice part of that is that anybody can do it and it won't add to Rut's workload.

I do not think it is a travel violation at all. He never puts his pivot foot down on the floor. And it looked bad and I might have thought about it more than I should to make this call, but I am glad they did not guess. I saw it live and said to myself, "That looks like a travel." But we cannot call what it "looks like" but what it actually is. Kind of like the Michigan HS Tournament issue.

deecee Fri Mar 22, 2019 01:22pm

The "travel" looks ugly, but I wouldn't call it. Nothing worse than getting called out for a borderline travel call/no-call. Close enough, let it go. It's been made clear that no one cares about marginal travels at almost any level.

I have this is a "missed" call by the official. I don't think he ever touched out of bounds until after he released the ball.

With that said, I also completely understand why this was missed. From the officials angle on the play, the official likely thought the knee hit before the ball was released.

It was a missed call, but I think a lot of officials would miss this call in real time, including myself.

AremRed Fri Mar 22, 2019 01:40pm

Hey Rut on the topic of posting videos do you mind labeling them “Play 1”, “Play 2”, etc?
