None of those angles are ideal, but it does appear like he was still going forward (A to B) when he jumped. But, again, hard to say on this video.

Yeah, I really wanted to defend the poor guy and determine that he walled up, but after I watched a few times what caught my attention was how, in attempting to block the shot, he had to reach not only up, but also out. The effect of reaching out drew the rest of his upper body along, effectively from A to B. It was slight, but it was there.


In a HS game I'd like to think I'd no call this. Pretty good and athletic defensive play, and an even better overcoming of it by the shooter.

Everything fine until the reach down. Defensive foul. Beilin will surely coach him to keep the arms/hands straight up for the entire play. Had he, there would not have been a foul called.

The foul in not for being illegal in his position, it's for swatting down and hitting the shooting arm after the initial contact.
