What Techs are indirects on HC

What technical fouls count as an indirect on HC?

LRZ Mon Dec 17, 2018 11:29am

There is a "Technical Foul Penalty Summary" chart on page 75 of the 2018-2019 rule book. Essentially, direct Ts on bench personnel, assistant coaches, DQ'd players = indirect Ts on HC.

SNIPERBBB Mon Dec 17, 2018 11:30am

Basically any T made by bench personnel that aren't the HC are charged as indirects to the HC.

Indirect Technical Fouls ...

Indirect technical fouls (charged to the head coach) are the result of bench personnel receiving a direct technical foul.

If the head coach is the offender, the foul is charged directly to him/her. If the offender is bench personnel (if not the head coach), each foul is also charged indirectly to the head coach.

Bench personnel shall not: Commit an unsporting foul.
Disrespectfully addressing an official.
Attempting to influence an official’s decision.
Using profane or inappropriate language or obscene gestures.
Disrespectfully addressing, baiting or taunting an opponent.
Objecting to an official’s decision by rising from the bench or using gestures.
Inciting undesirable crowd reactions.
Being charged with fighting.
Grasping either basket except to prevent injury; dunking or stuffing, or attempting to dunk or stuff a dead ball (including pregame, intermission).
Leave the confines of the bench during a fight or when a fight may break out.
Removing the jersey and/or pants/skirt within the visual confines of the playing area.
Enter the court unless by permission of an official to attend an injured player.
Use tobacco, or smokeless tobacco.
Stand at the team bench while the clock is running or is stopped (with exceptions).

Thanks, I have a 2009 book, but couldn't find them easily.

If there is a scorebook issue where there is a technical, does that go toward the HC?

SNIPERBBB Mon Dec 17, 2018 02:13pm

Those are administrative and as such are charged only to tbr Team Foul count. Nothing goes towards the coach on those.

LRZ Mon Dec 17, 2018 02:19pm

You can find a 2017-2018 rule book, including the chart, on-line: https://www.templebasketballofficial...%202017-18.pdf

An early Christmas present.

At long last, a nice unauthorized searchable and copy and pasteable recent rulebook.

And after a little detective work (I'm a big Law and Order fan, 100 more episodes and I get my gold shield), I also found a nice unauthorized searchable and copy and pasteable recent casebook.

Thanks Temple Basketball Officials Association.

Note: Do you guys really still wear Byron collars? While many make fun of us here in my little corner of Connecticut for wearing black belts? Really?

The casebook, Billy, is misnamed: it's from 2016-2017, not 2017-2018.

As far as I'm concerned it's recent.

My old searchable and copy and pasteable casebook was from 2011-12.

I think that that was when they still had chicken wire around the perimeter of the court?

(I'm eventually going to get the Temple PDF casebook copied onto a Word document and get rid of all the excess spacing between the citations, as I've already done with the rulebook. The problem is "select all" worked with the rulebook but not with the casebook. I'll have to do the casebook one page at a time.)

If somebody can figure out a way to do this more efficiently (convert PDF to a Word document), please send me a private message and I'll reply with my email to send the converted Word document to me.

Now, that would be one great Christmas gift.

"Every time a bell rings BillyMac gets his recent searchable and copy and pasteable casebook." (with apologies to Zuzu Bailey).

Pay Adobe 20 bucks or whatever it is(20 is too much IIRC but it is a monthly subscription so cancel before you get hit again) to be able to edit and convert PDFs.

I'm a cheap bastard, I'd rather copy and paste 265 individual pages.

Just do it and claim it as a business expense for taxes.

Recent, but still mislabeled.

I'm pleased with anything more recent than 2011-12.

That's beside the point. You were just being informed that what you said was the 2017-18 case book is actually the 2016-17 case book. It was just a statement of fact. You are always posting/asking about years that a rule was changed, I would think you would be accurate in labeling any reference material you use.

Actually, I labeled it "2016-17Casebook" on my hard drive hours ago, well before LRZ's post.

And, I never once said that it was the 2017-18 casebook.

Never. Ever.

I just referred to it as "recent".

The Temple Basketball Officials Association labeled it a 2017-18 casebook in their link, that I had no choice but to post as is.

That's on them, not on me.

You can look it up.

Success, converted the whole document, didn't have to do individual pages.

https://pdf2doc.com/

It still has a ton of extra spacing, but now, if I decide to, I can remove such.
