Neat Tucks or Flex Belt (or other)?
In the interest of not looking like a slob this season, I'm debating between these two. Any input from the peanut gallery here on what you use to keep your shirt tucked in?

We're Rebels I Tell You, Rebels ...
Wear a black belt on your slacks, but only if you want to look like a dork, like me.
https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5501/1...b3a37d6c_m.jpg Actually, this sign may no longer be valid for the entire State, IAABO International no longer allows belts. My local Connecticut board (not sure about the other five local boards, probably not) wrote an exception into our local Constitution (proper uniform) to allow such. We're rebels I tell you, rebels. Dorky rebels, but still rebels. |
How About Black Suspenders ???
Why do firemen wear red suspenders?

Super Tucks
I have a pair of these and have just about worn them out (which stinks because they're not being made anymore). I much prefer them, or suspender-like stays, that latch onto the bottom of the shirt and top of the sock.

I have never seen the benefits of a flex belt. This thing moves and often does not hold your shirt in place. I think I used the Flex belt once and basically threw it away. Tucking my pants in my UnderArmor was better than the flex belt.
I have used the Neat Tuck Active for a year and never had my shirt move. It took some getting used to at first because you did not know where to put the clips or how far to move the straps down, but I would not go back. One of the best accessory items for officiating I have ever purchased. Peace |

https://tse4.mm.bing.net/th?id=OIP.x...=0&w=300&h=300 I bet that you guys didn't know that I'm a member of my hometown's volunteer fire department. I hope that my company captain doesn't see this photo of me out of uniform. If so, he may penalize me by not letting me ride on the back end of the hook and ladder truck. It's true. It's true. |
I wear Shirt-stays for to keep my shirt tucked and neat, I wear flex belts to keep my pants from falling and moving around.

I like the Ultimate Belt myself. It keeps the shirt in place.

I just did not think I would like the stirrups that you put your feet through or the ones that fit on your socks. Peace |
People really have difficulty keeping their shirts tucked? Hmmm.. must not apply to weirdos like me. Have never had an issue with a shirt not staying tucked in my life, except for that one pickup game in the parking lot after my wedding.
Anyway... maybe tuck them in your underwear/tights/compression shorts. Forget visible belts of any kind. Do not wear suspenders as they pose a saftey hazard. Some player might grab you although you could wear the break-away- ones, lol. |

I use Neat Tucks also and I love them. I tried them after JRut mentioned them last season - I had never heard of them before that. It took some time to get the hang of fastening the clips onto the shirt, but once you figure it out, that’s it. I haven’t had any issues with them all through the spring or summer. They work great because you can wear them with shorts or pants. My shirt stays tightly tucked always.

Got my Neat Tucks on Saturday. Hopefully I get some games this year to wear them in!

Department Of Redundancy Department ...
I thought about this thread as I was walking out of mass Saturday evening.
The older gentleman in front of me was wearing both a belt and suspenders. I know little about suspenders since the last time I wore them was when I was in first grade, but what's the story? Is he really that afraid that his pants will fall down? https://tse3.mm.bing.net/th?id=OIP.S...=0&w=300&h=300 |

First, "tuck" your compression shirt into your ultra sporty skin tight boxer briefs. Your compression shirt isn't going any where. Then put on your compression shorts and tuck your officiating shirt into the compression shorts. The elastic on the compression shorts waist band is so tight that your shirt stays in place darn near perfectly. Been doing it this way for years. It may not work so well for the portly sized official, but it works really well for me. The double layer of undergarment is great for absorbing butt sweat, so there's the other benefit. :D |
It's been an interesting discussion about what keeps shirts tucked in. The flex belt might work for that, but I have had a hard time getting the flex belt to stay in one position. It would often unravel in the locker room, so I eventually decided not to use it. My pants also did not fall down without the flex belt (I wear size 32 pants).
However, I have noticed my beltless pants start to slide around during games (maybe I have lost weight since I started officiating basketball). I was thinking if the Neat Tucks would help me to keep my pants in position while working, or if there was another product out there that was better than the flex belt. I know that I could go the old-school route with suspenders, but how would I wear my shirt over the suspenders? |
