Viral shot--but do you count the basket?

High School Basketball Player Makes A Full Court Shot To Win A Game : theCHIVE

I'm thinking I call travel.

Can't see when he controls the ball. I need the other angle or on the other side of the court.

Peace

There is another site that has 2 angles. The vid in the OP does not show the dribble that he takes. The other site clearly shows the dribble. That kid's team was down two and he missed two free throws. He then got the interception and heaved the game winner. Per other site, he is quarterback on his way to play in college. Other angle also shows very, very calm ref making "score basket" gesture among the court storming fans.

Kid is Julian McGarvey from Ardsley. Shot won state title. Was #1 on ESPN Top Plays.

See other angle here: https://www.lohud.com/videos/sports/...ter/111061928/

All over YouTube also.

Based on alternate angle I got nothing. This is why it is critically important that you see the ball before calling traveling! I never knew from the original angle that he dribbled the ball.

Can I just say--

that may be the greatest play in all off High School Basketball history

High stakes-- State championship
star athlete fails at the line when he could have tied it.
Steals inbound pass-- has presence of mind and athletic ability to put down a dribble to avoid travel as he is falling, then jump up and hit a 3/4 court shot. That is pretty incredible.

thing that sets that other play above all other amazing buzzer beaters is the redemption against all odds. Star was a goat for missing 2 FT's (probably missed first then intentional on second, but whatever).. then somehow comes up with an impossible way to win.. first a great steal-- controlling the ball to avoid the travel.. then the shot. It's a story worthy of Shakespeare, if he were a basketball fan.

Rescind my travel call

Based on the alternate angle, I rescind my travel interpretation.

Which is why I had a discussion on one of the FB pages about not calling travels if you can't see the ball.
