It looks to me as if the ball changes direction / rotation ever so slightly. but, it's hard to tell on the video provided (not blaming JRut for this)

I think it hits the rim.

A little confused about the commentary though, And 1? I don't think there was a whistle on the basket.

Agree. It looks like it grazed the rim.
