Baseline screen

Friends game. Made basket. New offense sets a screen on the baseline. Entire foot of screener out of bounds. Defender crushes him. Easy block call but he has the offense setting up a screen with half of his body out of bounds...

I cant find in the book where this could be an illegal screen. Or does it not matter that his foot is clearly out of bounds.

FED: a defender must be completely inbounds to take a charge. No such wording on screens -- but it is a proposal for next year.

NCAA: Screeners and defenders must be inbounds.

(The above paraphrased -- I recognize defenders can screen, etc.)

The two players involved must each drink. Then, a do-over.

No need to repeat what Bob has already written.

I think Bob said it pretty well (at least with his 1st reply ha!). The violation I guess is an option, but I personally probably wouldn't go there.

For now I'm calling a defensive foul, with the hope that that is one of the rule changes that goes through.
